Moataz Helmy

Moetaz Helmy is a business innovation leader and a digital rights advocate with over 15 years of experience in the fields of start-up consulting, technology, and social impact. He is the chairperson of AfriLabs, the largest network of innovation and technology hubs in Africa, where he co-leads the vision, strategy, and governance of the organization, and champions the advancement of digital rights and inclusion across the continent.

Moetaz is also working for Meta, the world's leading social media company, where he co-leads the Metaverse Community Collective, a global initiative that supports the development and growth of the metaverse ecosystem. He is the lead implementing partner for the Diaspora Meta Lab, a project that connects and empowers African diaspora communities through the metaverse. Additionally, Moetaz is a co-founding partner at Hubiquitous, a European Commission-funded project that aims to create an open and interoperable Internet of Things platform for smart cities and communities. Moetaz's mission is to leverage his expertise in business innovation, start-up consulting, and technology to create positive social change and foster collaboration and diversity in the digital space.
